Censorship is a BIPARTISAN ISSUE!

FTW Blog

Ask anyone who publishes conservative content on the internet, if they have experienced fair treatment, and you will get a resounding NO. If you don’t believe this, try sharing a a different perspective from the Liberal Left’s agenda, on Facebook (or Twitter, or Instagram). Eventually, your content post will be replaced with a “This content has been removed” warning. That’s best case scenario.

Conservative Content Creators are constantly getting their accounts banned on social media platforms, across the board. If you’re a liberal and you think this does not affect you, you are sorely mistaken. At the rate we’re going, there may come a time in which you are force fed information with no freedom to think for yourself, ask questions, or even hold someone else accountable.

What is Censorship?

According to Webster’s Dictionary, to “censor” means “to examine in order to suppress or delete anything considered objectionable.” The word “censor” originated in ancient Rome, where the government appointed officials to take the census and to supervise public morals. Censorship happens whenever some people succeed in imposing their political or moral values on others by suppressing words, images, or ideas that they find offensive.

The First Amendment states: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

Basically, censorship is prohibiting one’s FREE SPEECH. And, it’s one of many freedoms that are at stakes, in 2020.

Censorship and the Conservative

Our nation has always defended free speech and the right to express different viewpoints. Until recently, it was fair to assume U.S. internet companies were committed to those same rights. But in the last few years, reports have uncovered a disturbing trend of online platforms censoring conservative speech.

A 2018 study by Dr. Robert Epstein, showed unequivocally, that Google, Facebook, and social media platforms ABSOLUTELY have the power to sway elections.

Nowadays, conservative or Pro-Trump accounts, ads, or posts are being removed. Under the biased guise of “misinformation“.

“Voices are being silenced, opinions are being censored and conservative media are being suppressed. These tech companies claim they provide platforms to connect people and share ideas. However, when the only ideas permitted are from one side, any prospect of intellectual discourse dies. If these platforms merely serve as an echo chamber of liberal talking points, everyone loses.

Fact Checkers ~ AKA “Freedom Police”

This year, many of us have noticed an emergence of many “fact checkers “ on Facebook, Twitter, and other social media platforms. While truth is definite on most fronts, there are matters that can’t truly be fact-checked—often in the realm of strongly held political opinions.

Both of the nation’s most prominent fact-checking organizations—FactCheck.org and PolitiFact—tilt to the political left, which makes them representative of the majority of journalists who also lean left.  Both of these groups go far beyond what they say they do, claiming to fact-check subjective things like political rhetoric that are not susceptible to fact-checking. In other words, if something is expressed that goes against the liberal agenda, it is marked FALSE.

PolitiFact, FactCheck.org, Snopes, Associated Press and ABC News — are all slanted to the left and have a bad habit of inserting their progressive opinions into “fact-checks” instead of simply being objective.

The reality of human nature is that people tend to easily accept that which aligns with their preconceived notions but demand very high standards of proof for anything that challenges their presumptions. With these “fact checkers” being proven time and time again to have an extreme left -leaning bias, it has become obvious that their goal is to discredit conservatives and control information to their liking.

Examples of Conservative Censorship

The Internet is truly the new battleground for liberal media bias.

The Free Speech Alliance

Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Georgia congressional candidate, posted a video ad on Facebook on June 2 holding an AR-15, telling the far-left militant group Antifa, to “Stay the hell out of northwestern Georgia” while on the porch of a local business. The video was banned, almost immediately. It’s important to note that pictures or videos with guns are not against Facebook community guidelines.

Donald Trump Jr.’s Twitter account was temporarily limited after sharing a video of a press conference with doctors, DOCTORS recommending the use of  Hydroxychloroquine. In spite of their honest and proven testimony that all of their patients have recovered from COVID, thanks to this medication!

Pro -Trump Facebook groups with hundreds of thousands of members have been deleted. Pro -Trump Reddit threads were deleted with hundreds of thousands of members. Numerous conservative Twitter accounts are taken down daily. Supposedly under the guise of election interference which is strange when you consider that they are ONLY accounts promoting the re-election of President Trump.

In January of this year, Twitter censored one of President Trump’s political ads based on his comments at The March for Life. Twitter reportedly labeled the video with a “sensitive content” warning, suggesting it may contain offensive or potentially graphic imagery, despite the fact that it merely showed babies, political candidates, and marches.

The pro-life Susan B. Anthony List has had ads deleted from its Facebook page a total of six times, according to the Daily Caller. We can hand off condoms to twelve year old in schools, but God forbid have something on the internet that talks about the reality of abortion. How is that balanced, let alone FAIR?

Social Media platforms have been censoring conservatives for years by limiting a users reach without even notifying the user. This is known as “shadow banning”. When a user is shadow banned, their post engagement will drop drastically, their follower count begins declining, and their overall reach drops to near zero.

Tiktok, an app owned by China but with headquarters and CEO here in America, have been permanently banning conservative accounts by the hundreds claiming “multiple community guideline violations.” When these account owners are asked, they state that they have not violated any community guidelines. Some of the accounts that were permanently banned included account with 30,000+ followers.

Unfair Treatment

When it comes to fair treatment, conservative Content Creators do not get equal amounts of views on these social media platforms, as liberal creators.

Don’t believe us? Compare Rachel Maria’s Tik Tok content (Conservative Political Comedy) to Sarah Cooper’s Tik Tok content (Liberal Political Comedy). We will leave it up to you to decide if they are equally talented, but nevertheless the views are very disproportionate. When you compare two of their videos side by side with the same number of views: Rachel Maria receives a greater proportion of Likes and Comments. Yet, her videos average 30K views to Cooper’s 1 Million average views.

Meanwhile, the left can market, capitalize, and/or perpetrate any kind of hoax or even hate. And, they get away with it. Have you ever seen this level of disrespect and hatred towards liberals or the Obama Administration?

“No one seems to be bothered by the fact that they can say whatever they want. It’s only when it comes from the right that it’s a problem,” Greg Gutfeld, Fox News Correspondent.

In conclusion, the problem of conservative censorship will not just go away. It is IMPERATIVE that each and every one of us stand up and become LOUD. If you see or experience a violation of someone’s freedom of speech, email the platform and post about it. Donate money to candidates that you know will fight for your 1st Amendment right. Another great thing you can do is support The Free Speech Alliance. Check out their page for updates on solutions to this problem that is affecting conservatives daily.
