President Trump’s Accomplishments 1/20/2017-1/1/2020

FTW Blog

When Donald J. Trump was elected to the Presidency in November of 2016, it was on a promise to put Americans first. He resolved to make this nation once again powerful and secure. To reduce the challenges facing Americans disadvantaged by race, economic hardship, and other barriers of oppression. He promised to repair damage done to the economy by decades of short-sighted policies, and to make this nation a place where every citizen can realize big dreams. He promised to Make America Great Again. So, let’s take a look at Trump’s accomplishments.

With Mr. Trump’s re-election campaign now underway, it is time to assess how well he has done at making good on these promises. It is difficult to dispute that he has done great things for our country. Keeping in mind that no other President in modern history has faced the level of opposition. It has stifled the POTUS’ ability to work for the American people, and yet he has still done more than multiple former presidents combined.

These oppositions have cost the American tax payers billions of dollars. Mainly spent on a baseless impeachment investigation. The Democrats chose to boycott his Presidential Inauguration. That was before he even had a chance.

Fast forward to 2020. A year that has brought both an unprecedented pandemic (which struck our economy fast and hard) and equally unprecedented rioting and destruction in dozens of cities. These are all cities run by the party opposed to his re-election. But even when just the first three years are considered, Donald J. Trump has had one of the most successful American Presidential first terms since the end of the Civil War.

To make this point, we have divided Mr. Trump’s Presidential achievements into six categories in which the American people were most in need of his services to repair past damage and to create for them a future more in line with their needs in the twenty-first century. His biggest achievements are listed in more detail on the schedule that follows this summary. Briefly, in the first three years of his presidency Mr. Trump has achieved at least the following successes:

For American Workers: U.S. Manufacturing had been in long-term decline until President Trump turned it around. His moves to bring manufacturing back onshore and to reduce useless red tape helped to create four million jobs, more than four hundred thousand of which are in factories. Manufacturing jobs grew at the fastest rate in more than thirty years, new unemployment claims hit a forty-nine-year low, and by the end of 2019 more Americans were employed than ever before in history.

For Disadvantaged Americans: Unemployment rates For African-, Hispanic-, and Asian-Americans at the end of 2019 were at their lowest levels in history, and the rates for women and young people were the lowest in half a century. To especially help America’s most disadvantaged minority group, President Trump pledged

$ of support to historically black colleges and universities, and he instituted the strongest criminal justice reform initiative in American history.

For the America Economy: President Trump signed the largest package of tax cuts and reforms in history, while also eliminating a record number of obsolete regulations. These sensible improvements helped to bring more Than $ billion back to be invested in the United States. And thanks to Mr. Trump’s emphasis on economic growth, by the end of 2019, median household incomes in the United States were at their highest level ever. Retail sales had surged, and optimism among U.S. manufacturers was at an all-time high. To help to ensure the stability of these policies that favor all Americans, the Trump administration has confirmed more Circuit Court judges than any other first-term administration in history, and it also confirmed two solid Supreme Court Justices in Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh.

For the Health of Americans: The Trump Administration has eased the burdens imposed on Americans by the Affordable Care Act, including the elimination of its individual mandate and the addition of less expensive and more flexible insurance options through association health plans and short-term plans. It has pushed the FDA to approve more affordable generic drugs than ever, and pressured drug companies to freeze or reverse planned price increases. Such innovations as right-to-try legislation for those with serious illnesses and an emphasis on reducing high-dose opioid prescriptions have eased some of the burden on Americans facing big health challenges.

For the Energy Independence of Americans: By the end of 2019, the Trump Administration had increased coal exports by sixty percent and lifted U.S. oil production to an all-time high. It also had made this country a net natural gas exporter for the first time since 1957. The Trump Administration withdrew the United States from the ineffective and job-killing Paris Climate Accord, and it cancelled the similarly counterproductive so-called Clean Power Plan. It opened ANWR to sensible use, and it approved both the Keystone XL and Dakota Access Pipelines.

For the International Security and Prosperity of Americans: As his presidency began, Mr. Trump moved our embassy in Israel to Jerusalem and withdrew from the useless and unconstitutional Iran deal. By the end of 2019, the Trump Administration had secured a record level of military Funding, while encouraging our NATO allies to spend more on their own defense. It had concluded the USMCA trade deal with Mexico and Canada to replace NAFTA, and it was working on the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) with Europe. It had built miles of border wall and improved the screening of refugees, while switching the focus to overseas resettlement.

And His Work for Americans Continues! Among other 2020 achievements, President Trump led the signing of the historic Peace Agreement between Israel and the United Arab Emirates, and also the Serbia-Kosovo Economic Normalization Agreement. In its first five weeks, his Operation Legacy cut the Chicago murder rate by fifty percent.

For the Protection and Economic Recovery of Americans

President Trump’s power to fight the worldwide Covid-19 pandemic that first entered the United States early in 2020 was limited by the U.S. Constitution, which delegates most power in such situations to the fifty state governors. Nevertheless, President Trump sharply reduced flights to the U.S. from China as of January 31, 2020, and he ramped up production of respirators, masks, and other health-care essentials, all of which actions greatly limited U.S. damage from the pandemic. He has had to allow economy-crippling restrictions to continue in individual states under the control of their governors, but the rapidity with which unemployment is dropping and economic activity is returning as the states gradually open up again suggests that late-2019 levels of employment and prosperity will return to the United States by mid-2021. Read more facts pertaining to his success with Covid (since the media will state the opposite) on our last blog post.
